These may seem like simple, fun, songs and rhymes to share with your child but they are so much more. While you and your “little one” are having fun, you are teaching critical early learning skills essential to their development; it actually makes them smarter.
It helps them master:
* listening skills and voice intonation ** facial expression and emotion recognition *** early literacy skills in language, math and science **** fine and gross motor development (finger movement / waving hands) ***** trust and relationship skills and a lasting, loving bond with YOU!
Surprise your child by learning them on your own from Kathy Reid Naiman, a treasured children's entertainer. Or, enjoy the demonstration videos with Kathy and children together with your preschooler. Either way provides endless entertainment, learning and relationship building for both of you.
@ 0 to 1 year olds Children like to hear a soft, high pitched, voice and learn facial recognition cues like happy, sad etc.
@ 1 to 3 year olds Children enjoy singing it with you while mastering the gross motor skills; simple actions like clapping. They also adore the routine of doing the same ones (i.e. at bedtime, getting in the car, getting in the stroller etc.).
@ 4 to 8 year olds Children learn to master their fine motor skills (i.e. fingers in a #3 shape) and enjoy doing the actions with/to you and their younger siblings (i.e. tickling your face etc.).

***** A fantastic app that is loved in our household by both preschooler and 2yo. Purchase is exceptionally worthwhile for the quantity and quality of rhymes. Presenter is delightful and children seem to adore her. App has taught us all rhymes we never knew as well as refreshed our memories of old favourites. Children are now doing these rhymes and giggling away even when iPad is off. Best app purchase of the year in our household for the under five's. --- US

If you want to learn how to do finger play with your students or children, this is the app for you. Not only does the teacher show you the motions and demo the songs for the finger play, but she has video using it with students. So it has video lessons, video demo, and the words if that wasn't enough. I think for any pre-K teacher starting out, this would be a great app for you.

This app is easy to navigate and very helpful for anyone working with or parenting small children. The 1.99 in app purchase is worthwhile, as you and your child will be presented with a variety of fingerplays that will probably be new to you. This also allows you to record your own videos and save them in the same format as the purchased videos, including the ability to type the words. My 7 year old loved being able to record a fingerplay for his 2 year old sister, and he was even willing to type the lyrics. This is a great app that can be used by a small child to learn songs that is much more interactive than watching most videos designed for small children.
The video examples of each are great and visually appealing- the demonstrator has a lot of enthusiasm and energy, which is so important when engaging with young kiddos. There a handful of free fingerplays to see, but it is definitely worth it to unlock 20 more for $1.99. - there is one about a mouse that you can use to get your kiddos quiet- just for that idea alone I am grateful, but there are many more. There is a fun take on the Itsy Bitsy Spider as well. What a fun way for a teacher (or parent) have kiddos transition to a new activity with a short fingerplay! This will be a very useful resource to have for my preschool and kindergarten aged students as well as older children with developmental delays.
